Hugh Quigley, the founder of Worldwide Scholar™, has spent most of the past two decades working in education as a teacher, administrator and consultant/counselor. Over the past decade, he has focused most of his energies on helping some of the world's top high school students in East Asia reach their goal of attending elite universities and liberal arts colleges overseas, successfully aiding more than 700 students with college and university admissions and writing college application essays and personal statements. Students he has advised have gone on to attend some of the world's finest liberal arts colleges and universities, including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Columbia, Penn, Cornell, Brown, Dartmouth, UChicago, Duke, MIT, Williams, Amherst, Swarthmore, Cambridge and Oxford. He is also an experienced English Composition and Government and Politics teacher, and an accomplished study guide author.
Unlike many university admissions consultants, Mr. Quigley hasn't spent his entire adult life walled off in the ivory tower of education. Before beginning his career in education, Mr. Quigley - a native of New York City - worked as a lawyer at a large Wall Street law firm and as a political, legal, and business journalist. He is a graduate of two Ivy League universities, Columbia University in his hometown of New York and the University of Pennsylvania Law School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has lived and worked in East Asia since 2004 and as a result he has first-hand experience with the challenges faced by those who choose to live outside their homelands. Mr. Quigley's lifetime of experience has given him a unique perspective on the needs of undergraduate university applicants, particularly those who apply from overseas, as well as a unique ability to help those applicants fulfill their dreams.
